Before April ends... new headphones. ATH-M50 FTW!!

My earphones and headphones collection over the years.

Everything started... hmm... not too long ago. (LOL) I was a happy owner of a Philips portable headphones, SBCHL150 (year 2005) and a Philips ear clip headphones, SHS4700 (mid 2007). Anything prior those 2 are not worth mentioning. They are those China brand Song buds which probably cost RM5 and lasts about a month or so. (Hahaha... "Song" not Sony). Then in-ear earphones became the in-thing. The Creative EP-630 (end 2007), my first ever (then I thought) high-end earphones, came with my XPS M1330. It was good, better than both the Philips, much thanks to the noise isolation for it being in-ear and fits my ears so well, and so it became my favourite.

So the Philips... and the Creative of course they're still around. (Hmm... maybe I should upload pictures of them)
I plugged them into my Walkman.
The portable headphones only has sound on one side.
The ear clip works fine but in not so good condition.
Creative EP-630 is working perfectly, and 2 years of heavy usage have made it sound even better.

In mid 2008, I got my piano keyboard. I needed a headphones and @meno from LYN recommended me to the Audio Technica ATH-T22. At that time, the T22 was only RM65. (Yes... the price now is RM119 each, almost double). It was my first full size headphones and I was so pleased with the sound it produced.

The ATH-T22 is no longer in production and the T200 is its successor.

One day, I got a Sony Walkman... gold in colour. Was happily using it with the EP-630... until...

I stumbled upon the Audio Technica ATH-ON300 (ONTO) in shiny GOLD!!
And my mind instantly 'BLING-ed'. I thought, I can't go wrong with an AT. And so, I got the GOLD ONTO to match up with my gold Walkman. Loved the ATH-ON300 for its ulltra portability. Sound wise... it's not the best of its kind. I think the Sennhieser PX200 is more of an all-rounder. The ONTO is, IMHO better for its highs and mids. Very little bass.

End of last year, as the EP630 is slowly falling apart with all the loosening parts, I went and tried 5 different earphones and fell in love with the Klipsch Image S4.
Other earphones I've auditioned and my comments on them:
1. Audio Technica CKS70 - Love the metal body. However, overly huge and too bassy for my liking.
2. Sherwood SE777 - BA driver, but... the sound produced wasn't to my taste.
3. Denon AH-C551 - Simple and neat design, sweet sounding to my ears.
4. Jays d-Jays - Another BA, but different sound from the Sherwood. I would have loved to try out BAs, but the shop don't carry black d-Jays. I don't like the whites.

I would love to have the Denon as well. But I can only afford one set. I went with the Klipsch Image S4 after testing it on various of my favourite songs.

Then I got myself another Walkman, this set came with noise cancelling in-ear earphones, the MDR-NC33. The earphones is above average. The best part is still the noise cancelling. Since the Walkman has the noise cancelling module built in, no extra module and battery needed. I've tried it on board a plane, in a train, in car... the noise cancelling works very well. However, without NC, these earphones are far from good. The built in mic on the earphones allows a lot of sound in.

Now I present you... my 3rd Audio Technica headphones.
The Audio Technica ATH-M50 Professional Studio Monitor headphones. AT's best monitoring headphones. Bought this pair from the US. Price wise, almost half the retail price in Malaysia. Same awesome product, at a very much lower price.

Have you drooled enough over my awesome pictures??
Yes, all headphones are mine and all pics are taken by yours truly, me.
I'm no audiophile... I just enjoy better sounds from better gears.
